Baroque organ project

Adopt an organ pipe!

Jaani (St. John’s) Church in Tartu has begun raising money for the construction of a new baroque pipe organ that will be unique among its kind and in the region. In order to help raise funds, the church is offering its friends and supporters the opportunity to adopt, or sponsor the purchase of, an organ pipe.

What kind of organ?

An expert group has designed an instrument based on the organ-building traditions of 18th century Danzig, home of the famous organ builder Andreas Hildebrandt.

Built according to 18th century tradition, St. John’s new organ will boast 32 registers tempered according to examples from the baroque period.

How much will it cost?

The cost of an organ this size is approximately €700,000, 1/7 of which has already been donated by a private donor.
